Richard Baron and Kim Sveska Speak to Environmental Insurance Groups
Attorneys Richard Baron and Kim Sveska were recent guest speakers at educational forums of two national environmental insurance groups. Their presentation, “Complex Cases & Toxic Torts: Defense Strategies” focused on early evaluation of case strengths and weaknesses, development of discovery plans that focus on early resolution and potential ADR, and application of legal causation principals (i.e. Daubert). Product identification, sample fingerprinting, exposure calculation, spoliation, epidemiology, and “state of the art” defenses also were reviewed. A number of mass tort products liability and toxic tort cases were highlighted, including those involving welding rod and manganese litigation.
