FBMJ attorneys understand the distinctive needs of the insurance industry and its insureds and are frequently called upon to act as local and national defense counsel by insurance carriers on a wide range of matters, including soil and groundwater contamination, products liability, environmental claims, coverage issues and medical malpractice defense, to name a few.

Our lawyers provide the attention to detail and decisive action needed to litigate complex liability losses for our insurance clients. We take a proactive approach in the assessment and evaluation of claims, working closely with our clients and their insurance carriers to help seek an early resolution, short of protracted litigation. We also review insurance contracts to determine whether insurance coverage or a defense is appropriate under the application of different state laws.

When warranted, we work to resolve claims using various alternative dispute resolution or assessment tools, such as mediation, facilitative mediation, or arbitration. For those matters that are not as easily resolved, we are prepared to litigate them fully up to and including trial and through the appellate process. Our experience also includes coverage issues under both claims made and occurrence policies including first and third-party auto no-fault coverage, health care policies, employment practices policies, agents and brokers’ policies, professional liability policies, and directors’ and officers’ policies.
