Sarah’s appreciation and commitment to the legal profession started long before she attended law school. She is a third-generation attorney, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. She even married her law school sweetheart, Brad, whose father is also an attorney!
Sarah’s legal experience includes medical malpractice, nursing home negligence general negligence, premises negligence, and trucking and auto negligence. In addition, she has experience with insurance defense, and family law, including pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, child custody disputes, and guardianship issues.
Sarah spent time working as an internal consultant for a large national healthcare corporation and was one of the lead project managers over the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Electronic Health Record Incentive Program, “Meaningful Use.” She oversaw the compliance of over 80 hospitals, all of which successfully met the requirements for the program both at the federal and state levels.
Sarah has been interested not only in the black letter of the law, but the philosophy and development behind the law. She wrote her undergraduate thesis on the issue of racism and the death penalty, and successfully defended her paper in front of a panel of professors. In law school she focused on medical malpractice, personal injury, HIPAA compliance, and the expanding definition of what “family” means in the eyes of our legal system. This included studying, understanding, and writing on the topic of assisted reproductive technologies and American law in contrast to foreign law.
Sarah has experience in the political arena. She ran a very successful campaign, and her subsequent election victory secured her a seat on the seven-member village council, beating several incumbents, including the president of the council.
During her younger years, Sarah and their Labrador retriever “Ginsee,” named after a notable U.S. Supreme Court Justice, would run together. Since then, Sarah has completed numerous half marathons, the Lansing City Marathon and the Dances with Dirt Ultra-Marathon.
Sarah is very passionate about animals. One of her most enjoyable volunteer experiences was working with Leader Dogs for the Blind. She was tasked with training (and snuggling) 6-week old trainee puppies.
Sarah has a creative side. She opened and operated a brick and mortar boutique in downtown Lake Orion, MI, where she developed and sold her own bath and body product line. She also refurbishes furniture and paints.

I cannot pick just one, but here are three honorable mentions: Anchor Man, Moulin Rouge, and Poor Things.
Before Instacart, there was Shipt. It was amazing.
Too many to pick a favorite. My advice, try everything.
