Randall Juip Honored in Crain’s Detroit Business’ Notable Litigators & Trial Attorneys

Foley, Baron, Metzger & Juip, PLLC (FBMJ) is pleased to announce that Managing Member Randall Juip has been selected as one of Crain’s Detroit Business’ Notable Litigators & Trial Attorneys for 2025.

Juip’s role as lead counsel for a mass tort class action trial that lasted almost 5 weeks, involved the testimony of more than 30 physician witnesses and experts, and resulted in a defense verdict on behalf of the firm’s clients was a key reason Crain’s featured him in this year’s list.

The lawsuit involved claims by more than 160 patients against a group of physiatrists (physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians) who had unknowingly bought fungally-infected steroid injections from an out of state compounding pharmacy. Juip agreed to take on the matter late in the process, having to learn the entire file in just two months.

“No trial lawyer stands on his own,” Juip said. “This award underscores the relentless dedication, unmatched skill, and effective collaboration of the FBMJ team, who work hard to find unique solutions to our clients’ challenges.”

Throughout the year, the Crain’s Detroit Business editorial team honors notable leaders in accounting, consulting, finance, health care, law, and philanthropy, among other fields. The publication’s notables lists aim to recognize individuals managing, mentoring, innovating, and giving back through accomplishments at their companies, in their industries, and in the communities where they live.

In addition to his firm management duties and docket of roughly 200 active files, Juip devotes much of his free time to advocating and fundraising for the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). Friedreich’s Ataxia is a rare, neuromuscular disease that primarily affects children–including two of his own. Over the years, Juip and his family have raised nearly $1 million for FARA.

“Randy’s grit and integrity set the tone at our firm and exemplify what an attorney can achieve, both inside and outside the courtroom,” said Associate Principal Carlos Escurel, who nominated Juip for this recognition.
