Mass Torts
FBMJ lawyers have played a leading role as national, regional or local counsel in much of the mass tort litigation challenging businesses over the last quarter of a century.
Representative mass tort litigation that our lawyers have defended includes asbestos, occupational safety products, birth control products (e.g., intrauterine devices, the "pill", contraceptive patches), various drugs (e.g., COX -2, PPA, natural supplements), multiple medical products (e.g., breast implants, heart valves, pacemaker leads), railroad equipment and computer products. FBMJ lawyers have been selected by companies involved in mass tort litigation to serve as national coordinating counsel, national trial counsel, key advisory panel members, science counsel, expert and company witness development and preparation team members, and Daubert challenge experts.
FBMJ attorneys were responsible for trying the largest consolidated mass tort trial to result in a defense verdict. We have often served as local counsel in such cases in Michigan and Ohio.
