Sarah’s medical malpractice defense practice spans a broad range of medical specialties, includes but is not limited to: general surgery, gastroenterology, radiology, interventional radiology, family medicine, hospitalists, pathology, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, cardiology, plastic surgery, hand surgery, neurologists, and obstetrics. She represents hospital systems, physician groups, insurance companies, physicians (in all specialties), nurses, and mid-level providers (physician assistants, nurse practitioners, CRNAs, and CAAs).
Sarah is a litigation attorney with experience in complex medical malpractice trials. Aside from trials, Sarah enjoys handling complicated expert depositions, Daubert hearings, and complex damages claims.
Whenever she is assigned a new matter, she immediatley strategize as to how she can get the case dismissed or minimize damages. This strategy is implemented and reassessed throughout every phase of litigation with the ultimate goal of client satisfaction.
Before joining Foley, Baron, Metzger & Juip, Sarah was a Partner at a metro-Detroit law firm where she practiced medical malpractice defense. Early in her career Sarah practiced commercial litigation including the defense of a mortgage company in all types of matters, as well as working on merger and acquisitions.
Sarah is a board member for the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC), an association of leading defense attorneys in the State of Michigan and sits on a variety of the organization’s committees including the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She was the recipient of the Anita L. Comorski Volunteer of the Year Award in 2023 in recognition of her generous contributions to the mission and goals of the MDTC.
Sarah is also a member of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA), The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan – Wayne County and the Wayne County Bar Association. Sarah has been honored with various awards, including Super Lawyers 2023 Annual List of “Top Women Attorneys,” Michigan Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” (2022, 2023), Michigan Lawyers Weekly Up & Coming Lawyers (2022), and Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Go To” Medical Malpractice Lawyer (2022).
Sarah is frequently a featured speaker within the local legal community. Some of her recent presentations include – Best Practices For Effective (Virtual) Advocacy and Tips for the Young Lawyer (2022), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Modern Practice (2022), and Found Something Good on a Plaintiff’s Social Media Page . . . Now What? (2022), Damages – what is real? (2023), and (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – an update (2023). She also presented at the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) Raise the Bar Bench/Bar Conference on the panel How Do We Develop the Next Generation of Trial Lawyers (2023).
She has also presented to medical providers including: (1) Nursing students at Mid Michigan College of Nursing. I discussed common charting pitfalls and how to potentially avoid malpractice claims or at least be able to defend yourself better if you are involved in a medical malpractice case; and (2) Midwife students at the University of Michigan Midwife regarding medical malpractice lawsuits, including issues specific to birth trauma litigation.

She was born in Canada, but grew up in Texas. She eventually moved back to Canada, however, she could not stay away from the US for too long. Sarah moved to Michigan for law school and officially became a US citizen in 2017 (which was way overdue as she spent most of her life in the US).
Sarah has a young son and enjoys taking him to the zoo, feeding giraffes at drive through safaris, and baking muffins and pancakes on Saturday mornings.
She also enjoys wine tastings, gardening, and really nice shoes.
