Before joining Foley, Baron, Metzger & Juip, Carlos worked for a Detroit law firm handling medical malpractice claims for nursing homes, physicians and hospitals located in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, and Saginaw counties. Prior to that, he worked for a Livonia law firm defending one of Detroit’s largest health systems in medical malpractice and premises liability cases. Carlos also has experience defending physicians in state licensing board matters.
While in law school, Carlos served as Chairperson of the Free Legal Aid Clinic (FLAC) and a Board Member for the Student Trial Advocacy Program (STAP). He also served as a member of the Student Board of Governors for the law school.
Carlos was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
When he is not busy chasing around his twin toddler boys, Carlos enjoys playing poker with friends and reading thriller novels between episodes of Puppy Dog Pals and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Occasionally, he will find his way to a golf course and hit a golf ball to the right or left of where he is aiming. Carlos has been “retired” from playing slow-pitch softball and volleyball since the birth of his boys and hopes to get back to playing both sports soon.
Carlos is avid sports fan and will forever root for the local Detroit professional teams (yes, even the Lions) but his heart will always be in East Lansing with the Michigan State Spartans. He aspires to be on Jeopardy! one day, hoping to put his quick reflexes and knowledge of meaningless facts to good use. Carlos hopes to visit England again with his wife and children and hopefully see Chelsea play a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.
