Prior to joining FBMJ, Eric practiced at two prominent Metro-Detroit firms, specializing in complex medical malpractice defense and birth trauma litigation. He also brings experience from his work in Patient Safety, Risk Management, and Healthcare Compliance at one of the largest healthcare systems in Michigan.
Eric received an additional Certificate of Concentration in Health Law upon graduation from the University of Toledo College of Law. While in law school, he also competed in the Ohio Attorney General’s Public Service Mock Trial Competition.
Eric is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan Lawyers & Judges Assistance Committee.
Eric loves all types of sporting activities. After graduating from MSU, Eric spent a year living in Vail, Colorado, where he worked and played on the slopes, skiing on average 6 out of 7 days a week. He is an avid hockey player, regularly playing in an adult recreation league, and enjoys playing golf, soccer, SCUBA diving, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
When not playing sports himself, Eric enjoys Michigan State University athletics such as football, basketball, and hockey.
Growing up in Michigan, Eric spent summers at his family’s cottage in the picturesque town of Mio, a small community along the Au Sable River in the heart of the Huron National Forest. He spent time there canoeing, fishing and kayaking on the river.
During college Eric was a member of the student-run 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, Spartans For Global Development, which consists of students, professors, and alumni who work to foster positive social and economic change in impoverished communities throughout the developing world. It was then that he travelled to Jiquilillo, Nicaragua helping to deliver medicine and medical supplies to the members of this penurious community. His experiences there left lasting impressions and placed Jiquilillo at the top of the list of his “must-go-to” vacation spots to visit (again).
