Before joining Foley, Baron, Metzger, and Juip, Benjamin gained experience at two metro-Detroit law firms where he specialized in no-fault insurance litigation and insurance defense. He has served as second chair in a first-party no-fault jury trial in Washtenaw County Circuit Court where the jury returned a no cause of action in favor of his client.
Benjamin has also achieved successful outcomes before the Michigan Court of Appeals. Notably, Benjamin has obtained favorable appellate decisions in multiple cases, including in First National Rehab Inc v Liberty Mutual Ins Co, unpublished opinion of the Michigan Court of Appeals, issued October 19, 2018 (Docket No. 344097); and Abraham v Farmers Ins Exch & US Disaster Services, LLC, unpublished opinion of the Michigan Court of Appeals, issued August 21, 2018 (Docket No. 335353).
While in law school, Benjamin was one of 14 students selected to attend a civil rights trip to Georgia and Alabama in 2014. During this trip, Benjamin had an opportunity to meet with attorneys from the Equal Justice Initiative and Southern Poverty Law Center, as well as had the opportunity to visit various civil rights sites. He also participated in Wayne State University Law School’s Criminal Appellate Practice Clinic in 2016, which included drafting a criminal appellate brief on behalf of an indigent defendant. Additionally, he worked as a student attorney for the Free Legal Aid Clinic, Inc., and interned with the 37th District Court of Michigan with the Honorable Judge Matthew P. Sabaugh.
Benjamin is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and also serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for Pointe News Incorporated, which is a Grosse Pointe media company.
He loves finding new places to explore, such as new parks, restaurants, and coffee shops. In fact, Benjamin hopes to one day own his own coffee shop. Benjamin is an avid sports fan and roots for all Michigan professional sports teams except for baseball, where he’s rooted for the Boston Red Sox since he was a child. Benjamin also enjoys riding his motorcycle and watching motorcycle racing, such as MotoGP, World Superbikes, and MotoAmerica.
